Where is Our Iraq War Plan?"
...same as it ever was...

George Bush spent Tuesday evening in Fort Bragg, giving a speech on the status of the Iraq war. It was a short speech, saying nearly nothing more than, "It's all been worth it!" There is no plan to create a timetable for removing our soldiers from Iraq, nor any plan to change the number of American troops deployed in Iraq. Either of those ideas, we are told, would be playing into the hands of the terrorists, who apparently succeed if we implement a solid plan. Why that would be the case is anybody's guess.

An editorial in The New York Times states it succinctly; "[Bush] told the nation, again and again, that a stable and democratic Iraq would be worth American sacrifices, while the nation was wondering whether American sacrifices could actually produce a stable and democratic Iraq."

As stated in David Corn's summary for "The Nation","Once more Bush claimed the war in Iraq was an appropriate and mandatory response to 9/11." To quote Bush himself, "The only way our enemies can succeed is if we forget the lessons of September 11..."

What lessons are we supposed to have learned from 9/11? Does Bush actually agree with the maniacal sadistic fervor of Karl Rove, in that our only lesson was that we should prepare for war; any war, anywhere, wars planned years in advance, whether they addressed our mission or not?

...and speaking of the 9/11 attacks...
Here's a well-argued summary of the multitude of strange coincidences that took place on September 11th, 2001.

Karl Rove: "Damn the Reasoning; Full Speed Ahead!"
Preparing and implementing a plan are two different things

"Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war"

That's White House avdisor Karl Rove talking. He's trying to say that the conservatives have done the correct thing since 9/11. They have prepared for war, while the liberals incorrectly chose to "prepare indictments".

First off, everybody prepared for war. It's only been four years- does the White House actually expect us to forget how we all felt and reacted to 9/11?

Secondly, does the White House truly believe that the rule of law should be suspended because of 9/11? Are indictments now meaningless, and will justice forevermore be dispensed via depleted uranium shells? Has the totally misguided money pit of Iraq taught them nothing?

Surely, the Conservatives prepared for war. They were preparing for war long before 9/11. In fact, they were looking for an "excuse" to go to war. Unfortunately, it was with a country that had nothing to do with 9/11. The White House took us into this Iraq war based on false data, without a stabilization plan or an exit strategy. We had no idea how much it would cost, how long it would take, and when we could expect to see any lessening of international terror. It's been over two years, and we still have no idea. All that we do know is that international terror is increasing.

Now Karl Rove is attempting to suggest that a little forethought, maybe some legal consideration of international law, perhaps a little attention to a viable plan, would have been a waste of time. All that we really needed to do was "prepare for war."

Dems Say Rove Should Apologize or Resign.

Howard Dean Speaks His Mind
...while Rippups fear and loathe

Howard Dean called the Republicans a white Christian party. He said they all behave the same, and they all look the same. He stated that the Republican leadership has never made an honest living in their lives.

...and oh, how the GOP choirboys whined about it!

Let's examine some of the charges. Are the Republicans a white Christian party? Answer: Of Course! They proudly wear their Moral Majority badge, they declare non-Christian religions to be based on hate and evil, and rarely, if ever, do blacks support their candidates. 82% of Republicans are white Christians. That's a higher percentage than the amount of beef found in beef hotdogs! Actually, that's an unfair analogy; Rippups get much plumper and redder that any hotdog when you turn the heat up on them. Oddly enough, we often find ourselves swallowing the vitriol that oozes from them both around every Fourth of July, as a faux celebration of American patriotism. Hold on- now I'm getting hungry for picnic fare, but the mental image of a sweaty Dick Cheney, two greasy hot dogs in each hand, crowding the keg, and turning away the non-white Christian neighbors from his "Member's Only" July 4th barbecue is giving me the shivers.

Republican Representative Eric Cantor of Virginia called the comments "Howard Dean's games of division and hate." Woah now- has the GOP suddenly jumped onto their own circus bandwagon of political correctness, and is now considering the label of "white Christian" to be offensive and hateful? Clearly, there might be some embarrassment in being grouped together with other white Christian groups like the Nazis or the Ku Klux Klan, but come on, if the YMCA can live with a Christian label, why are the Republicans now rejecting their own platform and constituency?

In the words of David Crosby, I think they owe it to themselves to let their "Freak" flag fly.
