Bush - The People's Favorite??"Where'd ya pull that poll out of, Karl?"
Karl Rove recently attempted to explain away Bush's low job performance ratings with the following statement:
"The American people like this president. His personal approval ratings are in the 60s. Job approval is lower. And what that says to me is that people like him, they respect him,"
Excuse me? A 60% personal approval rating?? I scanned PollingReport.com for any shred of evidence that supports Rove's claim. As expected, in addition to Bush's dismal job performance ratings (nearly 2-to-1 unfavorable) even his personal "favorability" ratings are actually in the 40's, and have been so for an entire year.
Where did Rove's data come from? The source appears to be a "secret" poll conducted for the Republican National Committee, and they won't release the data.
If you'd like to review publicly available data comparing Bush's favorability to another famous Republican president, view the GWB vs Nixon graphs here...
